World food day in Latin America

World food day! World Food Day is an international commemoration celebrated around the world every year on October 16. This day is to aware people of global issues related to food and to commemorate the date of the establishment of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization in 1945.

                                                              The two main issues

Hunger in Latin America and the Caribbean is at its highest point since 2000, after a 30 percent increase in the number of people suffering from hunger from 2019 to 2020, says a new UN report.

In 2020, four in ten people in the region, or 267 million people, will experience moderate or severe food insecurity, 60 million more than in 2019, an increase of 9 percentage points, and the most significant rise compared to other world regions.

The UN's focus now is to help countries in Latin America and the Caribbean region build and share solutions in their sustainable development pathways, with inclusive and effective democratic governance, building climate and disaster resilience.
